The Winter Egg, a jeweled masterpiece created in 1913 for the Romanov family, was sold on December 3, 2025, for £22.9 million ($30.2 million), thus setting a new world record for a creation by the Fabergé house.
More than a century after leaving the hands of Tsar Nicholas II, the egg continues to fascinate collectors, historians, and investors.

History of Fabergé's Winter Egg
The tradition of imperial eggs begins in 1885, when Alexander III, the Emperor of Russia, orders the first egg for his wife from Fabergé. The surprise is so successful that he will renew this gift every year. His son, Nicholas II, will take the tradition even further by ordering two a year: one for his mother and one for his wife.

It was in 1913 that the famous Winter Egg was created, now considered the most majestic of all. Designed by the brilliant designer Alma Pihl, it reveals a level of finesse rarely achieved in the history of decorative arts. The egg consists of a rock crystal shell, streaked with platinum flakes, and set with 4,508 pink diamonds.

At its heart lies a miniature bouquet made of platinum and gold, adorned with 1,378 additional diamonds and embellished with finely carved anemones. An absolute masterpiece, which many today consider impossible to reproduce due to the virtuosity involved in its creation.

The original invoice indicates a price paid by the Tsar of 24,600 rubles, which is equivalent to €273.69 in current value.

After the Russian Revolution, the egg disappears during the forced sales carried out by the new Soviet power.
Long considered lost, it finally reappeared in the 1990s before being sold in 1994 and then in 2002, breaking a new record each time. And the 2025 sale at Christie’s is no exception: 26 million euros, paid by an anonymous buyer.
How to invest in a Fabergé egg?
Even though very few people can afford to bid 26 million euros, that doesn't mean it's impossible to gain exposure to this type of asset.
This is precisely what Konvi offers, an alternative investment platform that we have already had the opportunity to analyze on Off Market Journal.
Our detailed analysis of Konvi
In 2025, 2 investment offers related to Fabergé Eggs were published on Konvi.
Fabergé's Christmas Egg
For the first time, Konvi has partnered directly with Fabergé to create a completely new egg, the first Christmas Egg ever made around the theme of Christmas.

On this occasion, 206 investors were able to participate, starting at €250, in the design of this unique product before becoming co-owners. The conservation, insurance, and resale will be managed by Henry’s Auktionshaus once the design is completed.
Konvi and its partner Henry's Auction House are aiming for a resale horizon of 3 years.
A Fabergé egg for rent that pays you rent
The second offer is closer to what we are used to seeing on Konvi. It involves investors acquiring a Fabergé egg to rent it out to museums and exhibitions in order to generate regular income (2-5% per year), while waiting to resell it within a 5-year horizon.

Very few alternative investment platforms in the world are capable of offering a return during the appreciation period of a tangible asset. Konvi thus further breaks the boundary with traditional financial investments.
201 investors have already positioned themselves on this offer currently open on Konvi.
The Off Market Note
The Fabergé are probably the ultimate symbol of jewelry craftsmanship: a meeting point between imperial history and global fascination.
Before rushing in, it is important to keep in mind that we are talking about alternative assets, which are very illiquid and closely dependent on the luxury market, auctions, and cultural fluctuations.

Investing in such a piece is, above all, the pride of becoming a co-owner of a myth and entering a world long reserved for an elite of collectors, museums, and great fortunes. A world where emotion, rarity, and heritage blend with financial logic.
If Off Market Journal exists, it is precisely to open the door to these confidential playgrounds, to understand them, analyze them, document them rigorously, and provide you with the keys to access them in an informed manner.
